We had a fantastic night at Reggie's Rock Club on April 10th for our Chicago debut!
Plenty of folks made it out, we made some new musical connections, and everything went swimmingly. The variety of genres that were represented that night were incredible and it was wonderful to see bands with younger musicians showcasing their love for music that was popular well before their time. (Major props to Breaking Ice and Far From Broken, the youngest groups there.)
Special shout out goes to On My Six, a great group of guys from out in Rockford that have one hell of a live experience. Their next gig is this Saturday, April 23rd, at Penny Road Pub in Barrington, Illinois.
So what's next on our to-do list?
Our next gig will be the most important one yet- What Lies Ahead is participating in a Battle of the Bands event at Side Street Studio Arts in Elgin, Illinois!
On May 27th, we will be in the first round, going up against three other bands to try and advance to the next round. The initial roster is sixteen, which will be pared down to eight after the first round is finished, with one-on-ones to follow in subsequent rounds.
The prize? Among other things, a coveted slot performing on the mainstage for Elgin's famed Nightmare on Chicago Street event later in the fall!
This is a huge opportunity for us. An opportunity to network, meet other bands in the local scene, get some face time with the community, put our music in front of new faces and ears... The only way we'll be able to make it a reality is if we can keep building on the momentum we've already got!
The love and support we've been shown so far has been humbling and encouraging, and we will need every ounce of it for this one.
So mark your calendars for May 27th at 7PM, and when the day comes, bring yourself and as many as you can muster to Side Street Studio Arts in Elgin! There's only a $5 suggested donation and it's an All Ages event. Keep your eyes on this website, the event pages, and our Facebook for all the latest, as usual!
Thank you for your continued support, and we hope to see you next month!
